C 26- Saffron.
A poem by me!
Red surrendered its violence
Yellow gave up its caution
The unity formed from the sacrifice
Was christened as saffron.
It brought out flavours in kheer
It gave pigments to marigolds
It gave salvation to fakeer
It sparked Agni in the cold
Now you grabbed it in a pinch
And sprinkled it on propaganda
You justified it to Lynch
And further communal agenda.
What once symbolized freedom
Now stands tall for bans
What once united millions
Now takes divisionary stance
What once fought with love
Now fights through Anti-Romeo squads
What once protected the bovine
Now butchers men in the name of God.
The bhagwa stands for truth
Don’t dull it with white lies
It balances the white and green
Don’t let it be politicised
Today saffron is in danger
And so is your religious faith
Free it from the clasps of bigots
Who haunt humanity as a wraith
I may not be religiously devout
But I do know saffron isn’t a weapon
If you’re religious then speak out
It’s your silence now that deafens
